"When we started looking at issues of privacy, as the legislation rolled it out and we found the regulations and language to be vague and rather daunting.  Initially, staff were defensive about bringing in an external partner to assess privacy, feeling we already had a high standard of awareness around confidentiality.  CPI reviewed both our policies and our premises, thoroughly and objectively, consulting with appropriate staff.  When CPI made their final recommendations, we put into place a 2-year implementation plan, doing the easy things first and fast, and the more significant structural changes as our budget would allow.  Not only were the staff pleased with the outcomes, but the clients also commented positively.  After completion of the structural changes, we invited CPI to return to evaluate our progress, and they were impressed.  CPI’s involvement caused our organization to think about privacy issues in the broader sense, and that knowledge is something we can now apply going forward.'
