MANAGEMENT SERVICES
CONTACT: services@canadianprivacyinstitute.ca
The Institute offers specialized Privacy Management Services to Canadian organizations and organizations operating in Canada and abroad.
AWARENESS
GREAT privacy management begins with
you and your management team being aware of
the various laws that impact your organization
with respect to privacy. These vary by industry
and by the nature of the individuals about
whom you collect personal information. Institute
associates are all senior consultants who
combine their privacy and security knowledge
with experience in one or more of human resource
management, finance, auditing, sales/marketing,
and information systems.
The Institute keeps
an ongoing watch on developments in privacy
law in Canada and throughout the world, passing
that information on to you through information
materials (hard copy and via the web), and
through our other products and services outlined
above. We then offer a number of awareness/education
alternatives about the practical challenges
of meeting Canada 's privacy laws. Each session
is tailored to the audience; if to a group
of HR professionals, then employment privacy
is focused on. For social service organizations,
clients/persons receiving treatment are the
focus.
Sessions can also be created specifically
for your organization and given to management
and/or employee groups, and can include Speeches
(one to two hours in length), Seminars (two
to four hours in length) , or Workshops (1
or more full days)
Books written by Institute
associates include:
Privacy
in the Workplace – The
Employment Perspective (ISBN 1-55367-268-2)
published by CCH Canada in February 2004;
Internet and Wireless Privacy – A
Legal Guide to Global Business Practices (ISBN
1-55367-180-5) published by CCH Canada
in 2003;
Both books are available on our website: http://www.canadianprivacyinstitute.ca/book.html ,
or from the publisher, CCH Canada: http://www.cch.ca/english/index.asp?sq=yes
RISK AND READINESS ASSESSMENT
How prepared is your organization
to comply with Canada’s privacy legislation?
Institute certified assessors will come to
you offices and conduct a full assessment
of your readiness, provide a report outlining
your areas of risk, and provide recommendations
for corrective action. The duration of Privacy
Assessments varies with the size of organization
and the number of operating units and sites.
PRIVACY PROGRAM PLAN
The Canadian Privacy Institute will work with you to create a Privacy Management Plan that minimizes risk and that demonstrates to shareholders, the public, your customers, and your employees that your organization takes the protection of personal information seriously.
An important part of the implementation
of your plan is to train your staff on
the intent of your Privacy policy and how
to manage personal information. The Institute
will certify your staff as fully trained.
Training can be tailored to fit your organization’s
specific industry and the plan you have
developed.

PRIVACY PROGRAM MANAGEMENT
Each and every organization in Canada needs to have a Privacy Plan and needs to manage that plan. The protection of personal data is a highly sensitive matter. Just as Employee Assistance Programs (EAP) are considered to be too sensitive to be managed within the organization, so too, many organizations contract the management of their Privacy Plan. Can you afford to dedicate staff to manage this process?
Your privacy program will touch Sales, Marketing,
Purchasing, Human Resources, Payroll, Risk
Management, and Operations. Which of these
has the capacity to take on your Privacy
Management activity? Is it appropriate to
assign the role of Chief Privacy Officer
[view

when they would then have to adjudicate complaints
against their own policies and actions?
The Canadian Privacy Institute will manage your Privacy plan for you. Contact us for details:
