The Institute offers a number of education alternatives about the practical challenges of providing adequate security and privacy for information. Each session is tailored to the audience; if to a group of HR professionals, then employment privacy is focused on. For social service organizations, clients/persons receiving treatment are the focus.
Speeches (one to two hours in length)
- Institute speakers provide organizations with a better understanding of the technical and functional issues related to information security and privacy. Emphasis can be tailored to the audience – targeting Canada, or a particular province, or international data issues. Speeches are normally lecture style with some limited time for questions.
Seminars (two to four hours in length)
- Institute seminars are longer, thus allowing for much more information to be passed on. In addition, more questions can be fielded.
Workshops (1/2 day, or 1 full day)
- Institute workshops normally begin with the information that would be shared in a seminar. Then, participants work with each other using various tools to perform a Privacy Risk Assessment, and to generate a draft Privacy Plan for their organization.
